The Printronix "Seeing is Believing" Resellers Day took place at Klein Kaap on Wednesday and the excitement was palpable as clients arrived.
Klein Kaap, with its charming Old Cape ambience and delectable refreshments, was the perfect host for PDC and some of its resellers to showcase the innovative Printronix range. The event was presented by Rosemarie Zito, Sales and Marketing Vice-President of Printronix LLC, and Lareen Kohler, New Business Development Manager, EMEA.
The event started with a warm welcome from Frikkie Koegelenberg, Chief Executive Officer of PDC, who introduced Rosemarie Zito to the group. Zito shared a brief history of the strong and long-standing relationship between PDC and Printronix, which has been ongoing since PDC's inception in 1999. They are the leading experts in South Africa when it comes to these exceptionally robust products.
Lareen began the session with a complete overview of the Fujitsu SIDM range that Printronix released late last year. These printers are cost-effective and offer great value for money, with a small footprint, making them ideal for replacing OKI and Epson printers in South Africa and Africa.
OKI, previously the second-largest supplier of dot matrix printers in the global market, has pulled all their serial impact dot matrix printers globally, with Epson giving low supply and reducing their product range. Leaving a significant gap in the market for potential replacement of these mid-range printers.
The Fujitsu printer comes complete with an OKI-specific printer driver. These settings are available across all DL models, allowing customers to work with the same setup they had with their OKI device, allowing for seamless replacement and usage. Each Fujitsu model comes standard with a 1-year parts-only warranty, which can be upgraded to 3 years parts-only upon registration within 3 months of purchase.
After a brief refreshment break, Lareen moved on to the recently launched Colour LED printer range, which includes the Printronix LP654C full-colour LED A4 printer and the Printronix LP844C A3 LED printer. These printers are sleek and compact, thanks to LED print heads that require no moving parts.
Lareen explained how the LP654C requires the smallest operational space of any A4 Colour LED printer, while the LP844C is the smallest A3 Colour LED printer in the world. Both printers can handle the heaviest and largest media stock in their class.
LED technology takes up less space than laser, enabling a single-pass flat paper path that offers best-in-class print speed and unrivalled media handling capability, from A6 up to 1.32m in length and up to 256gsm in weight, to support all printing needs.
The LED ProQ technology allows for varying levels of intensity for every printed dot, enabling greater detail and colour depth, closer to analogue quality.
She went on to say that the LP654C offers full front access for all operational needs and all consumables are user replaceable.
The LP844C offers 75% faster print speed than others, larger devices, superior media handling, and a lower cost of ownership.
Both printers come with 1-year on-site parts and labour warranty, and 5-year LED coverage.
After the session, PDC and the resellers had the opportunity to spend some time testing and demoing the units. It was a great chance to witness the quality and speed of these printers in action, as we printed on an array of different media stock, including magnetic media, waterproof synthetic media, card stock, banner media, label stock, clear polyesters, washable paper, ID cards, and even 80gsm paper.
Everyone was impressed by the ease of use and the exceptional performance of these printers, which left a lasting impression. PDC and the resellers are excited to introduce these printers to their customers and showcase the innovative technology behind the Printronix range.
